A shortfill is a bottle of nicotine-free (0mg) e-liquid that is not filled to the top. Our 50ml shortfills come in a 60ml bottle, which leaves room for one 10ml nic shot. Here is how to mix the two, and what strength you end up with.
Why shortfills come without nicotine
In the UK, e-liquid that contains nicotine can only be sold in bottles of up to 10ml, at no more than 20mg/ml. A 50ml shortfill contains no nicotine, so it can come in a larger bottle. If you want nicotine in it, you add it yourself with a 10ml nic shot.
What you need
- One 50ml 0mg shortfill, such as AISU or ZAP! Juice
- One 10ml nic shot containing nicotine (18mg/ml), such as the ZAP! Nic Shot, sold separately
How to mix them
- Take the cap off the shortfill, then pull the nozzle tip out of the neck of the bottle. Most shortfill nozzles pull off with a firm grip.
- Pour the whole 10ml nic shot into the shortfill.
- Push the nozzle tip back in firmly and screw the cap back on.
- Shake the bottle well for about a minute so the nicotine mixes evenly through the liquid.
- Write the strength on the label (for example "3mg/ml") so you know what is in the bottle.
What strength you end up with
One 10ml 18mg nic shot added to 50ml of 0mg liquid gives 60ml at about 3mg/ml. The sum: 10ml at 18mg/ml is 180mg of nicotine, spread through 60ml, which is 3mg per ml.
If you prefer no nicotine at all, you can vape a shortfill as it is, at 0mg.
Which kit to use it in
Our shortfills are 70VG/30PG. That thicker, higher-VG mix is made for mods and sub-ohm tanks, which run at higher power. For pod kits, a 10ml nic salt or bar salt at 50VG/50PG is usually the better match. These contain nicotine: ours come in 5mg/ml to 20mg/ml. Our guide to vape kits explains the difference.
